How to calculate a percentage
To find a percentage of a number, multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example, 15% of 240 is 240 × 15 ÷ 100 = 36.
Percentage increase and decrease
Percentage change compares the difference between an old value and a new value with the old value. A change from 80 to 100 is a 25% increase; a change from 100 to 80 is a 20% decrease.
Reverse percentage
Use reverse percentage when you know a value after an increase or decrease. The calculator divides the final amount by one plus, or minus, the percentage expressed as a decimal.
